Ted Crumley has served as Chairman of the Board since May 2006 and as a director of the Company since 1995. Mr. Crumley served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of OfficeMax Incorporated (a distributor of office products) from January 2005 until his retirement in December 2005 and as Senior Vice President from November 2004 to January 2005. Prior to that, Mr. Crumley was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Boise Cascade Corporation (a wood and paper company) from 1994 to 2004.
Phillips S. Baker, Jr., a director since 2001, has been our Chief Executive Officer since May 2003 and has served as our President since November 2001. He served as Hecla’s Chief Financial Officer from May 2001 to June 2003; Chief Operating Officer from November 2001 to May 2003; and Vice President from May 2001 to November 2001. He has also served as a Director of QEP Resources, Inc. (a leading independent natural gas and oil exploration and production company), since May 2010. Mr. Baker has served as Chairman of the Board for the National Mining Association since October 2017, and has been a Board member since September 2010. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Board for the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum since February 2012.
Catherine “Cassie” J. Boggs was appointed to Hecla’s Board of Directors in January 2017. Ms. Boggs served as the General Counsel at Resource Capital Funds from January 2011 until her retirement in February 2019. Since November 2019, Ms. Boggs has been serving as an International Expert in mining with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program. She served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at Barrick Gold Corporation from January 2009 to December 2010 and Vice President from July 2005 to 2008. Ms. Boggs was also an international partner at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie from July 2001 to July 2005. She has 37 years of experience as a mining and natural resources lawyer with experience in domestic and international mining projects.
George R. Johnson was appointed to Hecla’s Board of Directors in March 2016. Mr. Johnson was Senior Vice President of Operations of B2Gold Corporation, a Canadian-based gold producing company, from August 2009 until his retirement in April 2015. Mr. Johnson also served as Senior Vice President of Russian Operations of Kinross Gold Corporation, a senior gold mining company, from March 2007 to August 2009, and Senior Vice President of Operations of Bema Gold Corporation, a gold producing company, from October 1999 to March 2007. He also held several positions with Hecla Mining Company from 1983 to 1999.
Stephen F. Ralbovsky was appointed to Hecla’s Board of Directors in March 2016. Mr. Ralbovsky has been the Founder and Principal of Wolf Sky Consulting LLC since June 2014. He was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (an accounting firm) from February 1987 until his retirement in June 2014, where he concentrated his practice on public companies operating in the mining industry. He is a part-time Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law. Mr. Ralbovsky has previously served on the boards of several non-profits, including American Heart Association – Arizona Affiliate, Southwest Human Development, and as an Advisory Board member of Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Cemeteries and Mortuaries. He is also a member of several organizations, including: AICPA, Arizona Society of CAPs, National Mining Association, and Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration. He holds a Juris Doctor in Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, as well as being a licensed CPA.
Terry V. Rogers, a director of the Company since May 2007, was the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cameco Corporation (the world’s largest uranium producers) from February 2003 until his retirement in June 2007. Mr. Rogers also served as President of Kumtor Operating Company (a gold producing company and a division of Cameco Corporation) from 1999 to 2003. He has also served as a Director for Centerra Gold Inc. (a gold mining company) since February 2003 to May 2018.
Charles B. Stanley, was elected a director of the Company in May 2007. Mr. Stanley was the Chief Executive Officer, President and Director of QEP Resources, Inc. (an independent natural gas and oil exploration and production company), from May 2010 until his retirement in January 2019. Mr. Stanley was also Chairman of QEP’s board of directors from May 2012 until his retirement in January 2019. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Questar Corporation (a U.S. natural gas-focused exploration and production, interstate pipeline and local distribution company) from March 2008 to June 2010 and also as its Executive Vice President and Director from February 2002 to June 2010.
Alice Wong was appointed to Hecla’s Board of Directors in February 2021. Ms. Wong is currently Senior Vice-President and Chief Corporate Officer at Cameco Corporation (July 2011 to present). Prior to that, she served as Vice President Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Regulatory Relations from 2008 to June 2011. Ms. Wong was also the Vice President Investor, Corporate and Government Relations from 2005 to 2008. Prior to joining Cameco (and one of its predecessor companies, Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation), Ms. Wong held part-time positions as a sessional lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan, an economics instructor at SIAST, a CRA auditor and a marketing consultant for a small, local organization. She has more than 30 years of diverse expertise in the uranium industry and holds a Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D).
