When Cindy Moore, a chief engineer at Hecla, was diagnosed with ALS in 2010, she immediately began fundraising for the ALS Association’s Evergreen Chapter and became a tireless advocate against this terrible disease. Cindy’s story resonated throughout the company and with Hecla CEO Phil Baker and the Hecla Charitable Foundation became a big supporter of this effort. Sadly, Cindy passed away in 2015 but her legacy lives on through her Cindy’s Cyclists Team and the “Cindy’s Ride” Silver Valley Ride to Defeat ALS. The ALS Association Evergreen Chapter recently thanked Hecla for its commitment to helping them reach their mission. Since 2010, the Charitable Foundation has donated over $125K to the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter and sponsors “Cindy’s Ride.” In addition, in honor of Cindy’s memory, Hecla employees are still a part of the Cindy’s Cyclists Team and participate in her fundraising ride which will be held on June 20th in Kingston, Idaho.
